Dark Souls Iii Nexus
It is this simple design concept that has brought about hundreds of hours of discussions online surrounding the world of the Souls games, and Dark Souls III is no different. For me, Dark Souls III is the best of the series. In terms of combat, Dark Souls III feels like the most polished yet, combat is fast and intense. Weapon variety is. For many, Dark Souls III will be a return to form for the series. It has taken many positive aspects of its predecessors and incorporated them all into one amazing experience. Yes, you will die, you will get lost, and you will get frustrated, but you will also feel an accomplishment that very few games can reward a player with in today’s gaming world. The world of Dark Souls III is incredible, environments are varied and all have their own enemy types. You begin your adventure by creating your character and choosing one of ten character classes, each with their own unique equipment, items, and skills. The great thing about Dark Souls is you are never tied to one class, just because you have chosen to be a sword-wielding knight does not mean you cannot become a mage later on. The character class has minimal impact on your game outside of the first few hours or so. As such, choosing to start as a knight will give you a much easier time in the beginning as your equipment comes with many advantages, whereas going with a deprived class will give you a much tougher time early on, due to the equipment you start with.Dark Souls III definitely starts off harder than previous games as you are thrown into an area with a difficult enemy to fight if you are not familiar with the game, as well as a boss fight that is easily the hardest of the series so far. As with Demon’s Souls, we now have a hub area where NPCs will gather and allow you to continue on questlines, upgrade equipment, and buy supplies.
From the hub, you will be able to warp to any bonfires you have lit throughout the world, you can traverse the world from start to finish from the very first bonfire. There are multiple paths you can take, secrets hidden at almost every corner, and several bosses to defeat on your journey. As with previous games, when you die you will lose all of your souls. Souls are effectively the currency in this world; you will need souls to level up, purchase items and equipment, as well as being able to upgrade your equipment, without souls you will have nothing.
However, the game will always allow you to collect your lost souls. A bloodstain will form where you have died, if you can make it back without dying you will be able to retrieve all lost souls; however, if you die before getting there all will be lost. Bloodstains can also form an integral part of your game if you are playing online. While connected online you will see the bloodstains of other players, examining them will show you how that player died, which can be quite valuable as they may alert you to enemy ambushes.Speaking of online, Dark Souls III truly shines here, no longer are we restricted with no voice chat options, no longer are we forced to be within a certain level range of someone we want to play with, no longer are we locked out of being able to co-op due to having obtained too many souls. Dark Souls III has taken all the great aspects of online co-op and added in more to spice it up. There are still level restrictions when doing co-op with random people, such as, only seeing summon signs of those who are within 10 levels of you. We now also have restrictions on weapon levels.
If I have a weapon at level 5, I will be unable to invade any users with level 3 weapons or lower. This is a great improvement, and stops people from going through the game at a low level, getting incredibly powerful weapons, and then invading and killing new players with very little effort over and over again. Then there is the password system, this will allow friends to set a password and summon each other no matter their character or weapon levels.
Dark Souls 3
This is a great addition and allows people to play at their own pace, while also being aware that they can still easily co-op with a friend whenever they feel like it. However, there is one restriction here, if I have a level 10 weapon and my friend has a level 3 weapon, then my weapon will be scaled down to their level so that we cannot just completely destroy enemies in early parts of the game. In addition to this, we also have the ability to enable or disable in-game chat.
For me, this was a big addition, as anyone that tried to do co-op back in previous Souls games will know how much of a pain it could be without being able to talk directly to the other player. Also, be aware that summoning help will increase your chances of being invaded by other players.Weapon variety is plentiful and is sure to have something for every playerThe world of Dark Souls III is incredible, environments are varied and all have their own enemy types. From massive poisonous swamps, to giant Cathedrals, to deep underground cities. The world that has been created here is magnificent to behold. I found myself just standing and looking at the environments as I marvelled at the atmosphere they have created.
Even deep underground can yield beauty as sunlight breaks through the cracks and shines down towards a hidden city. Every detail has a purpose. Item placement will also usually point you in the right direction or give a hint to a hidden area.
Adding to this, the sound in Dark Souls III is spot on, music can go from an intense battle theme to a mellow and almost sultry theme. It can get the heart racing at times and within seconds calm you down again. Some of the boss themes here can stand with the best out there. The story of the Souls games has always been an interest to many fans from the start. The biggest reason for this is that a lot of the lore is open to interpretation, you have to piece together every bit of info you find in order to reveal the truth behind it all. This has fascinated me since the start, as the game has never spoon fed me story details, instead it encourages me to find the clues and piece it all together.
Each time you speak to someone else you you question previously obtained information and your interpretation of how it all fits together. Weapon variety is plentiful and is sure to have something for every player, from daggers, to short sword, to greatswords, to whips, there are options here for everyone. In addition to weapons, we have a variety of armour that we can wear, each with their own stats. Selecting the correct armour can usually be the difference between landing that final hit and defeating a boss, or being defeated by that same boss. Rings are another thing that can be added on for additional effects, there are well over 50 rings in Dark Souls III, of which the player character can wear 4 at one time.Dark Souls III in its entirety has an endless amount of play time, the online aspect will keep this game going for years as we have seen with Demon’s Souls. The character build variety will allow the player to keep things fresh and different even after hundreds of hours.
Even for players that do not want to participate in the online portion, there is still plenty to do. The game has 4 different endings and with each NG+ that is started, the difficulty increases so the game always keeps you on the edge of your seat. For me, Dark Souls III is the best of the series. I love everything about the game, and really struggle to find issues with it. In fact the only thing I can really mark against the game is regarding some of the NPC-given quests.
Without some guidance, it is almost impossible to complete some of the quests, as they are extremely vague in what needs to be done in order to complete them successfully. All in all, this has been my best gaming experience of 2016, and I don’t see anything coming for the rest of the year that can top the experience Dark Souls III gave me. For any fan of the series, this should be an instant buy. For anyone starting here, I can wholeheartedly recommend this game especially with the revamp of the online aspect. If it is true that Dark Souls III will be the last of the series, I can smile knowing that they went out with a bang. By vague NPC quests do you mean hard to start? If that is the case then those buying the game should probably know that FromSoftware has modified the game to make NPC quests easier to start. The story and lore is still vague and will require players to look into it with ardent effort to make something of it; however, is spite of that I think the game deserves 9.7 the reason it did not get 10 was because I felt the game to be a bit short.

I would of liked it to take me 70 hours to complete but it only took me 29 hours. I am a veteran so maybe that is why it felt short.
