Dragon Age 2 Act 3 Quests
= Prologue Act I Act II Act III Welcome to the meat of the guide, the walkthrough for the main plot. We had to separate the potatoes side dish that is the Quests section from this walkthrough index - there's a separate one detailing the extra quests in each Act. Best Served Cold is an Act 3 main quest in Dragon Age II. Best Served Cold is received via a letter from First Enchanter Orsino after finding the three mages for Knight-Commander Meredith. If Hawke sided with the Templars at the beginning of Act 3, this quest will alternatively be received from.
At the start of Act III, Orsino is attempting to incite the public against Meredith as he has become frustrated with Meredith's policies towards mages. Note that siding with Meredith or Orsino nets you a bonus quest to do this act. You gain no reward from remaining neutral other than the fact that Meredith and Orsino both have an ambivalent attitude toward you in the main quests of the Act.- Orsino and Meredith- Seneschal BranBran has some things to say concerning his job and the questionable state of the city's government.- The Lost SwordsThis side quest is started by speaking with Taarbas outside the Hawke Estate. There are 10 swords to find, and turning them all in without asking for a monetary reward leads to lots of XP and a unique weapon for Hawke. I'll list locations in a video specifically about this quest.- Beware of DogAn event in your estate where your dog has caught a burglar.
It doesn't matter what you do.- Bodanh and SandalBoth of them have things to say with the start of this Act.

3. Please don't spoil any other, non-Dragon Age media released within the last yearHow to use spoiler tags: !spoiler here! IMO, most of the side quests in DA2 are really interesting. The only ones I found uninteresting were the 'clear gangs out of Kirkwall' ones, but they don't even get marked as quests until you start fighting the gangs anyway.Oh, Hubert's issues with the Bone Pit are ultimately not terribly exciting and mostly just 'go fight some monsters' with no plot around them. So you could definitely skip those. Edit: If you have Mark of the Assassin and/or Legacy DLC you can get armor sets from those that are comparable to the Mantle of the Champion, but otherwise you do need to do the Bone Pit quests to get the best armor in the game.A lot of your companions' dialogue and approval and such are tied into their companion quests, so I would definitely suggest doing all of those at least.
I'm at a similar point as you in my first playthrough, and I've just been doing whatever quests seem like a good idea at the time. (a batch of daytime ones, then nighttime ones because Hawke doesn't sleep)Once I get to a point where I feel the main quests are building up to the end of the act (I think the mail that starts 'Following the Qun' is waiting on my desk), I pull up the DA wiki and cross off the quests I've done for an act, as well as backpacks and companion armor upgrades, then I start finishing off the list before I finish off the main quests. I usually prioritise companion quests, then secondary, then side quests.I don't know if that's necessarily a good way to do it but I've been enjoying it well enough. It lets me be a completionist but with that blind freshness that I get from running around like a headless chicken for the first 3/4 of the act. I prefer to advance the main plots ones far enoguh to unlock all/most of the sidequests for the Act and the then try and knock them out in as few trips as possible. This is especially true for the sundermount and wandering coast quests often you can knock out 3+ quests in a single trip.
Side quests that take place in one off locations or dungeons within town i tend to do first.if you're pro you maybe try and limit nighttime trips too, but ultimately you generally want the random encounters there anyway and it usually takes multiple trips so no big deal if you pass through the docks at night once or twice doing sidequests.
