South Korea is an amazing country to visit irrespective of whether you’re a K-pop and/or K-drama fan. With beautiful natural scenery, exciting cities and super-fast internet, it’s hard to resist the allure.But being a fan of K-dramas gives you an extra desire to travel there. Certain places have special meaning. This is where the leads first confessed, this is where they got back together after she recovered all her lost memories, this is where they met for the first time – the feels are just too much!Here are some of the special places where the magic happened (and so you need to visit): 1. N Seoul Tower/Namsan TowerThis absolutely iconic K-drama location has been featured in many drama love stories since OG days.
Yeah, that’s right. I’m talking Lee Min Ho with curly hair in Boys Over Flowerswooing Geum Jan Di days. With its famous ‘Locks of Love;' the tower’s fence where couples hang padlocks to symbolise their eternal love, and its amazing views of Seoul, it’s hard not to weep happy tears thinking about all the K-drama couples that had sweet moments here. Gyeongbokgung PalaceAn amazingly beautiful palaces in Seoul, Gyeongbokgung Palace is also the largest out of all five.
It was the main palace during the Joseon dynasty, where the King would reside and where the government would be held. If the thought of walking where Kings may have once walked doesn’t get you excited, maybe the fact that this palace was featured in Goblin will. Yes, this palace, specifically Gwanghwamun gate, is where Eun Tak and our beloved dokkaebi Kim Shin stepped out, when they returned to Korea from their wild impromptu Quebec trip.Feels., am I right?
Aqua Planet 63Who doesn’t love a good aquarium? Aqua Planet 63 is the epic aquarium featured in the Legend of the Blue Sea scene where Sim Chung (the mermaid female lead of this drama) sneaks into the aquarium waters and goes for a swim with the rest of the marine life. The aquarium actually does feature a real mermaid show for visitors, but the mermaids are of course not real real. This aquarium was the setting for the two leads' reunion after at least two episodes of build-up. Ah, the memories.

I had no expectations, but then I slowly caught myself finishing at least one episode every night! When I started eating more bibimbap and bingsu, and following Korean actors' Instagram accounts, I knew I was hooked!

Because I'd be traveling solo, I printed Instax photos from the K-Drama scenes as my travel guide. With the language barrier in Korea, it's also easier to ask for directions when you just show a photo of where you're heading. Aside from this park, which is now my new favorite place in Seoul, also in the area is the 63 Square where Shim Cheong 'worked' as a mermaid.I can't pinpoint just one reason why I am so hooked with K-Dramas. Sure, there are the super handsome oppas and poreless leading ladies with the most kilig love stories ever. I also admire their cute sense of style, and get a serious case of LSS with their OST. But above that, I noticed that in most Korean dramas that I've watched, the main character always puts value in hard work, loving one's self, and showing how important families and friends are in their life. And being in the exact same spot where I've watched a good scene, I can almost hear the theme song playing!
