Tired of having to remember so many different passwords? Password Confidential keeps your passwords secure and makes your life easier at the same time.
As a Kaspersky Internet Security user, I thought I'd try their password manager; I've tried out four other popular password managers, and all allowed me to import my existing password database from the exported databases of other password managers, in various formats (XML, CSV, etc), including that of my existing password manager (although one needed a separate conversion tool).Kaspersky Password Manager has no obvious option for this, so I contacted support and asked them if it was possible. Their reply was:' Kaspersky can only import its own databases in.spdb,.pdb and such files. Importing from other password managers is not possible. This is by design.Good day.' As it happens, Kaspersky PM doesn't fit my requirements, but it might have. However, I'm not going to manually copy 450-odd existing login details to a new password manager, and the other companies seem to understand this. Why would Kaspersky deliberately decide not to support this functionality, when it's likely to lose them quite a few possible sales from existing users of PMs who are considering a change to Kaspersky? Is it some security concern? If others can do it, why not Kaspersky?
Welcome to KPM-SubForum. Your concerns about import passwords from other Apps like KeePass, Dashlane, RoboForm.etc. It hasbeen answered by KTech-Support.
Apparently the (ver. 5.0) offered this import feature, but Not in the 8.0 version. The reason provided @ dlorde was that it's been by design. But could be for security reasons and number of passwords to importlike 450-500 per user, could be a factor too. We've to distinguish between - Commercial Password Managers and the offeredfor the Top Antivirus - In resume let's hope the Import/Export passwords feature, get returned in next version Thanks for the response Indio; I was just curious about the reasoning behind this decision - it there's some security implication, it's would be good to be aware of it. Bummer - I look after 10 machines and was hoping to switch from Norton to Kaspersky.
No way can I expect my elderly users to start typing in there password collections so the lack of an import facility will/has stopped me jumping from the Norton ship.:angry:Just to add my two cents worth. I was investigating exporting passwords from Pure 3.0 Password Manager and found a free product called Sticky Password. It recognizes the spdb file type used by KPM and Pure 3.0 Password Manager and is able to import the file directly into their own spdb file. It also has an export function.
You may want to investigate this product to see if you can import the Norton passwords and create an spdb file that can be used by KPM.I hope this helps.
