Easiest to use: TGI AIU Geth Juggernaut Krogan Vanguard Best: GI Any class can be effectively used on any difficulty.
I'd been kicking around doing a ME 3 themed blog for awhile. I am not usually into multiplayer games (I'm particularly back at shooters) and I was one of those Mass Effect purists that bristled at the idea of EA spoiling yet another franchise by corrupting it with some half-baked multiplayer component. I refused to even play the multiplayer until I reached near the end. Since I needed to boost the galactic readiness to get the best endings (and in regards to the whole ending fiasco, we won't go there), I finally grudgingly gave it a go. It's a good thing I did wait since if I hadn't, I probably would never have gotten around to finishing the single player. I probably have put around 200 hours in multiplayer (versus maybe 30 or so in the single player) and I still play almost every day so it's safe to say, I have been absolutely hooked on ME 3's multiplayer. So thumbs up EA, glad I was wrong.Initially I had planned to do an opening entry with my personal rankings of every multiplayer character in the game.

But since the multiplayer keeps getting tweaked with constant nerfs and buffs, I never had the chance to get around to it. So instead, for my first entry, as ME 3's multiplayer is due for yet another monster DLC update tomorrow (which is free, thumbs way up EA!) which will add yet even more classes, I thought I'd start off by spotlighting three classes that I feel have been traditionally overlooked, unfairly maligned and/or ignored and after tomorrow's DLC will likely be even more so. So without further ado and in reverse order.3. Quarian Engineer (female)I'll admit, not a class I've used much lately but I definitely plan on devoting more games to her since the recent patched fixed some of her bugged power evolutions.
While I don't often encounter people using her in random matches, when I do, the person using her is usually a good player in terms of knowing what to do to help the team. I think she gets overlooked since she is not a high scoring character and her individual powers are done better by the other characters in the class. The geth engineer's turret is far more useful with its shield restore and her incinerate can't trigger tech bursts on her own unless she uses disruptor ammo) and as a result, it is tough to top the leaderboard with her if you care about those thing as her damage output is subpar compared to most other classes.
However, she is an excellent support class with naturally rapid cooldown due to the nature of her powers, can trigger cryo explosions (a big help to sniper teammates especially), weaken enemy armor to debuff bosses and her turret provides instant point of offense to cover a choke point or provide a flanking attack on incoming enemies. You won't dominate the scoreboard (if you do, then your team is in trouble), but good teammates will appreciate what you bring to the table. With her I generally use, as I do with most of my engineers, an SMG (Tempest or Hurricane) with a scoped pistol for sniping.2. Human InfiltratorConsidering all the other members in this class are among the elite (the geth, salarian, male quarian and shadow would be in my personal top 6), not surprisingly I have never encountered anyone with an N7 level above 200 using this character. The HI imay be considered the ugly stepchild in the infiltrator family but that would sell him/her short. While he/she certainly can't match up in killing power with most of the other infiltrators, he makes an excellent sniper (cryo blast allows for easy headshots and the rapid cooldown permits a quick cloak for the damage bonus before the shot) and sticky grenades help bring down large armored bosses like brutes with surprising ease.
I favor playing my HI with a scoped saber with warfighter gear.1. Drell VanguardThe gamefaqs ME 3 forum ran a poll a couple months back that ranked every single character in multiplayer and the Drell vanguard finished overwhelmingly in last place. A travesty since I consider him the second best vanguard in the game, behind only the Krogan Battlemaster. Unfortunately, I don't often have a chance to bring him out in gold matches since I'll invariably end up getting kicked. Too squishy for gold you say? Well in gold, everyone is squishy but as a vanguard, he gets shields restored with biotic charge so I would argue he's actually pretty durable.
He's also the fastest, most agile character in the game, which helps to get him get away from sticky situations not to mention his speed helps in those retrieval missions. He has surprisingly large weight carrying capacity allowing him to pack a good shotgun without sacrificing much cooldown. Throw in his cluster grenades and no vanguard can deal as much close range damage as quickly as he can after a biotic charge. I find he especially dominates reapers as he absolutely shreds brutes and ravagers due to their large size allowing all the cluster grenades to hit up close.
My preferred loadout is a Wraith or Piranha while using grenade gear.Honorable Mentions:Quarian Infiltrator (female) - Most of what I said to the HI applies to her, though sabotage, despite being nerfed to almost oblivion, remains a useful and fun ability to use.Salarian Engineer - The poor guy has been typecast as a FBW/G/G decoy spamming grunt but he has a versatile skill set and fun to use on any map/enemy combination.
